Chairmans Letter 5th January 2021

Dear Members,

I wish you all a happier New Year in 2021.

The latest lockdown announcement made by the Government yesterday evening probably comes as little surprise given the headlines over the Christmas and New Year period. Over the last 12 months we have all faced restrictions. Let us hope that as 2021 progresses the vaccine allows us to lead a more unrestricted life and get back to indoor bowls.

I would like to thank the 13 volunteers who have offered their time to help decorate the club, following our earlier request.

I also send my thanks to the 120 members who donated £20 to the club to ensure we have kept “ticking over”.

Update of work
I and some willing volunteers have finished installing the heat exchangers which bring in much needed fresh air whilst retaining about 70% of the heat that is extracted with the stale air. This should allow us to get back to playing bowls safely and generally improve the air quality in the club.

During November, half of the Dining Room ceiling collapsed, and we have cleared the debris and have replaced 500 washers and bolts in the roof. We will need to fit new plasterboard and paint the ceiling, when able.

2021 – AGM (date to be confirmed) Officer Vacancies
I announced at the AGM in November 2020, that I will be standing down as Chairperson of the Executive Committee after about 10 years in office. Our club, IWIBC cannot exist without a Chairperson in place as we are a limited company. Just before Christmas our Treasurer Vernon Findell and Director, Paul Dyer both decided to resign at the end of March 2021.
