Newsletter September 2012 

A warm welcome to everyone, 

During the closed season, the Club has undergone extensive alterations and improvements.   The Dining Room has been extended and refurbished, including a new carpet, tables and chairs.  The iron railings behind the rinks have been replaced with a bench/table enabling spectators a clear view across the rinks. 

Our cleaner, Andy, has been kept busy throughout the summer, decorating various areas within the Club i.e. the ladies changing room, the main bowling area walls and the Dining Room.   This work has been carried out as well as his normal summer cleaning duties.      I am pleased to report that the early feedback has been positive.   The Directors have worked hard to ensure that the Club is maintained to a high standard.   

My thanks go to Paddy and Pam Upsom for their stirling work looking after the Summer Triples, which I am pleased to report, has run smoothly.  Paddy and Pam took over this duty due to Graham Smith’s ill health.  It was very pleasing to see Graham in the Club and I am sure all members wish him a speedy recovery. 

Next Saturday 29th September sees the Official Open Day, when memberships can be paid, Bowlswear Direct will also be in attendance from 10a.m.     Our Presentation to last year’s winners of leagues and competitions will be held at 12noon. 

We are pleased to inform you that Coleen will again have the Catering Franchise for the Club and will be in attendance on Open Day for the usual snacks.    Dates for your diary:   Coleen has agreed with the Directors to hold Sunday lunches on the following dates:      14th October, 4th November, 18th November, further details will be on the Notice Boards.  The cost of Sunday lunch for 2 courses will be £7.50. 

Good bowling to all, whether you are in a league or just a roll-up, may you have a successful season and most of all an enjoyable season.
